diary - day 275
I finally missed a diary day. Surprised it took me this long.
Day 274, now gone forever. It was a hard day, and I was very tired from the Pup. Although I was incredibly grateful my Wife only had to go into work for the afternoon, as it allowed me a short nap in the morning and some help with watching the pup. Work was fine. Bit of a blur.
Today is a better day! Feeling a bit more recovered today, and seem to have found a way to get the Puppy to nap more (I think she's not been getting enough sleep). She's a proper shark, so hopefully the extra sleep will help.
Work is going well, but maybe a bit frustrating. We made a system design choice at the beginning of this project with very good reasons, and now, because of some cool features we've dreamed up and some UX issues (due to not trusting internal users to be careful and considerate), the boss isn't happy about the design and is a bit mmm about it.
I get being a bit frustrated by it, but the design constraint is there because of other company limitations, including data sovereignty. This constraint makes the system considerably simpler and just makes the UX of a nice-to-have feature a bit worse, but not awful.
That's the tradeoffs we gave from the get-go, and the boss has forgotten them. Lesson here? Document more, get a literal sign-off. Be extremely explicit about pro's, con's, reasons, and cost to change.
