diary - day 282

Decided I'm going to write the diary entry in the morning, in prep for the day.

For the next few weeks, I'm running a 4-day workweek by using some PTO during the Summer holidays (for schools). This lets me spend more time with my Wife and our Pup, as my Wife has time off work too. Today is the last day of the working week for me - happy days.

Today is about rounding off some work, ahead of our deadline next Wednesday. Almost at the finish line, for this lot at least.

My most frustrating bottleneck right now is code reviews - Half the team is in the US, so on a different timezone, and occupied with other things. So, only one person is available to review my changes, and they're up against it too.

It's also a bottleneck for me; the agents I'm running generate code as quickly as I can review it, if not quicker, and I'm missing a lot of the context of the changes because I'm not living in the code like I used to. This makes it really hard to verify whether it's actually good and will work, outside of manual testing.

I wrote this while our puppy was asleep on my foot. Very cute. Looking forward to getting her out to socialise later and picking up a coffee.

I keep skipping the craft time carved into my calendar pretty consciously. I find I don't know what to spend that time on, and because I'm so up against it, I don't feel that time is actually available for it. Need to figure this one out.

(On a side note, finally updated my post template to be the diary so that it's less effort to write! Making habits easier, even tiny amounts, massively helps me)
